We would like to clarify the truth concerning the robberies took place in the 8 bells , let us advice you the real fact as following :

Two German people lost their deal with their arranging desert safari company, they refused their conditions & prices, that was after the travel agent issued the permits of their trip so they return back the original permits but they kept the copies with them.

They made another deal with an Egyptian driver ( Hamada Hemdan ) , this deal to help them to enter the desert with their own 2 cars & the driver car without any permits - Guide as well as the policeman ( officer ) without passing any military check points.

Their trip was to the Gilf EL Kabir , while they were on their direction to the 8 Bills , they sat up their camp in the middle of open desert ( Salama Sand Sheet ) in the Egypt -Sudan Boarders.

It was very very early morning on 26/01/2008 - 15 Sudanese armed men wear deep black cloths covered to the head ( camouflage clothes ) ridding 02 Toyota pick up cars - crossing this area of the desert , they saw their un hidden camp which was with just 03 normal peoples , they took the two Germans' cars & leave for the Egyptian car as it was in a bad condition ( as they informed ) & left them after they took all their equipment's - money , then they returned back to their direction to Sudan with an easy way.


Our points of view regarding this strange robbery as following :

- Great gaps of this strange story is missed , but if we agree with the German people in what they said please note the following :-

- they entered the deep desert ( un legal boards ) without any permits as well as security ( policeman) or at least the guide to show them the safety ways in the desert.

- they sat up their camp on an open area , although we know very well that we should camp beside any mountain or shelter . But because they want to disappear from the military check points & the driver doesn't the professional person, they didn't find any places except this place.

- we really surprised that the German people made their tourism police report in Cairo although that any one in their situation will go fast to any police point to help them , that means that they didn't care about any thing except the insurance of the cars ?????

- Also we wonder why the robbers take the German cars & leave the Egyptian car & why the driver is disappeared after this incident

- In all cases , if the German cars were seen some where in the desert without permits , it would be impounded by the boarders police ( legal authorities of Egypt - Libya - Sudan ) .
So all of us thinking if the cars really taken,sure its were impounded by the Sudanese boards police & they made up this story to get the insurance of the cars.

is the insurance not much less than the money they deposited for the carnet?

concordo decisamente evento molto strano.

E seguendo i vari Link ho letto le repliche dei diretti interessati,ma quello che ho potuto capire le cose ancora non sono comunque chiare .

Strano che 2 4x4 verosimilmente sudanesi con 15 persone armate si sono spinti così a nord.

Ok una cinquantina di km più ad ovest dell'agguato transitano i contrabbandieri diretti in Sudan....

Ma nonostante i grandi spazi sahariani qui la zona di transito utile è piuttosto delimitata e non credo che gli utenti di quella pista saranno interessati ad un aumento di sorveglianza da parte degli egiziani

Loc: Roma Ritornato da Khartoum dove la stampa locale riporta notizie di sconfinamenti da parte di truppe irregolari in varie zone di frontiera fra Sudan ,Ciad e anche Egitto che interessano l’area del Gilf El Kebir con furti di veicoli a viaggiatori . Un gruppo di motociclisti diretti in Kenia è ritornato a Khartoum per rientrare Egitto via wuadi halfa.

Come ho scritto ho ” semplicemente “ letto quotidianamente la stampa locale durante il mio soggiorno, per loro sono notizie di poco e non il caso di citare la fonte , Adolfo cosa vuoi che importi . Quando ti fermano via a chiedergli se sono regolari o meno. ? Più interessanti erao in prima pagina notizie sui capricci di Britney Spears e le allora imininenti nozze di Carla Bruni .( tutto il mondo è paese) .
Per i motociclisti piuttosto incasinati perché senza visto di rientro per l’Egitto e alle prese con altri problemi di organizzazione alla mia partenza bivaccavano in attesa di notizie dalle rispettive ambasciate. Non avevano cmq problemi di denaro e tempo.

Caro GFCLY, se si da una notizia bisognerebbe conoscere i fatti e non cercare solo di suscitare allarme per apparire protagonisti con tanti BLA BLA BLA.

La risposta era per Adolfo, non ho capito perché l’ha trasferita qui , chiedi a Lui , comunque per stampa locale intendo indicare il Khartoum Monitor, el Ray el Alaam, ed altri quotidiani i motociclisti che erano diretti in Kenia sono tornati indietro in conseguenza della situazione che si legge in questi tempi anche sulla nostra stampa.

Suite à l'attaque de touristes fin janvier :
Les autorités egyptiennes ont refoulé un groupe de touristes français qui devait se rendre en raid dans le Gelf Kebir et l'Uwaynat en février. Ils n'ont pas pu aller plus au sud que l'oasis de Dakla.
Il étaient parfaitement en régle et étaient accompagnés d'une agence locale qui a déjà organisé de tels raids.
Avant tout raid il est donc préférable de s'assurer des possibilités de passage.
J'ai eu cette information au retour du groupe ce 25 février et je n'en sais pas plus.
