La notizia di questa mattina é che i 4X4 "stranieri" devono restare a Ghat e nell'Akakus si entra solo con le auto libiche. Si può entrare anche a piedi o in dromedario!!! La normativa riguarda comunque solo l'Akakus (per il momento).
E' solo una notizia arrivata da un'agenzia libica non ho ricevuto nessuna comunicazione ufficiale.
Per quanto riguarda i visti c'é un gran traffico al Consolato Libico di Milano che in questi giorni ha sospeso anche la procedura d'urgenza (per il visto occorrono minimo 9/10 gg).

Dear Stefano,
Regarding this news, we had a meeting with the authorization concerned,
and they have informed us to leave things normal, to clear this
regulation, as all agencies has refused the idea. For now they are
still giving permissions to travellers with their cars.
I will inform you of any changes, but for now proceed normal.

Mi hanno confermato che la disposizione esiste, ma interessa Akakus e Matkhandoush.
Solo queste 2 zone archeologiche.
Il 9 ottobre vado in Libia un mese, poi vi informerò.

Mi è appena arrivato dalla Libia:
Department Of Ghat made a new regulation about the Foreign Cars, Foreign people must rent Local Cars to visit the Painting ( Only Region of Acacus and Wadi Madkhandouch ), Too many people had 4x4 cars and they dont have work this new regulation was made to help them
It's a very bad Idea, and i'm sure that they cancel this regulation soon
I will ask about the authorization.

Mi comunicano SRNG che per le agenzie locali con contratto registrato con controparte estera, il visto può essere consegnato all'areoporto , sempre pero dopo aver ottenuto e formalizzato la lettera d'invito .

has anybody asked for the newest visa regulations in Italy lately?
In France, Germany and Switzerland there is something going on like
- no more passport translation (from 15th october)
- visa at the border with invitation letter
- even "soon" the invitation letter is not asked anymore
The translation story is confirmed by the Libyan Embassies in Paris and Bern.
The rest is not.
What about your infos?

hello Lone Rover there is an Agency "Saro Expeditions" in Germany who sent back the passports last week with no visas but only the libyan invitations and told the travellers, they can get the visa at the border in Libya!
